Description

The Government of the Republic of Mauritius is offering scholarships to qualified Ghanaian students for full-time, on-campus undergraduate and postgraduate studies in public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Mauritius for the 2026/2027 academic year. The scholarship is available to eligible citizens of Ghana who are resident in Ghana.


Purpose

The Mauritius–Africa Scholarship Scheme aims to:

  • Promote higher education and human resource development in Africa;

  • Strengthen bilateral relations between Mauritius and African countries;

  • Provide Ghanaian students with access to quality tertiary education in Mauritius.


Eligible Institutions

Scholarships are tenable at the following Public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Mauritius:

  • University of Mauritius

  • University of Technology, Mauritius

  • Academy of Design and Innovation

  • Université des Mascareignes

  • Mahatma Gandhi Institute

  • Rabindranath Tagore Institute

  • Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd

  • Mauritius Institute of Education (Postgraduate only)


What It Covers

The scholarship supports full-time, on-campus studies at public HEIs in Mauritius for:

  • Undergraduate programmes (Diploma/Degree)

  • Postgraduate programmes (Master’s, MPhil, and PhD)

Specific financial components (e.g., tuition, stipends, airfare) are subject to the terms and conditions of the Mauritius–Africa Scholarship Scheme.


Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

Nationality & Residency

  • Must be a Ghanaian citizen resident in Ghana.

Age Requirements

  • Undergraduate applicants:

    • Must be at least 18 years old;

    • Must not have reached 26 years by 01 January 2027.

  • MPhil/PhD applicants:

    • Must not have reached 40 years by 01 January 2027.

Academic Requirements

  • Must satisfy the minimum admission requirements of the chosen Mauritian public HEI.

  • Must have applied for at least one full-time, on-campus programme at a public HEI in Mauritius.

Additional Requirements (Postgraduate & PhD)

  • Postgraduate applicants must submit an abridged research plan.

  • MPhil/PhD applicants must provide:

    • Name of proposed supervisor(s) in Mauritius;

    • A supporting statement from the proposed supervisor.


Application Instructions

  1. STEP 1: Apply for admission to a Mauritian public HEI and obtain one of the following:

    • A conditional offer letter from the HEI; OR

    • An acknowledgement notice confirming that an application has been submitted and the required application fee paid.
