CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Award of Scholarships by the Government of Republic of Ghana

The Government of Republic of Ghana is offering scholarships for full-time, on campus undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Public Tertiary Education Institutions in Ghana to qualified students from ECOWAS member states for the 2026/2027 academic year.

1.0 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates must satisfy the following requirements

  1. Be citizens of ECOWAS member states other than Ghana
  2. Meet the admission requirements of attached list of participating universities.
  3. Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.
  4. Demonstrate commitment to contributing to national or regional development
  5. Meet immigration and visa requirements for international students studying in Ghana.

4.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE

STEP 1

All applicants must have applied for at least one full-time on-campus programme at a public tertiary institution in Ghana and attach proof of any of the following,

ü  (a) conditional offer (letter of admission) from the applicant’s chosen University

OR

ü  (b) an acknowledgement notice from a Ghanaian public tertiary institution that the application for a seat has been made and the appropriate application fee has been paid.

STEP 2

Submission of academic credentials, admission letters and supporting documents via the Ghana Scholarships Authority (GSA) online portal: www.scholarships.gov.gh

STEP 3

Initial review and shortlisting of applicants by Ghana Scholarships Authority for onward submission to designated Nominating Agency in the ECOWAS member states

STEP 4

Nomination by ECOWAS member states based on quotas, national priority and other considerations

STEP 5

Submission of nominees to the Ghana Scholarships Authority by ECOWAS member states through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ghana) using the attached National Endorsement Form

5.0 ECOWAS MEMBER STATES NOMINATION PROCEDURE

5.1 Nominating Agencies are required to nominate up to the quota assigned to the ECOWAS member states applicants. The decision on the distribution of nominees from the undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes rests on the nominating agencies.

5.2 Nominating Agencies should ensure that applicants satisfy all eligibility criteria

5.3 Nomination of ineligible applicants or with incomplete supporting documents will not be considered

5.4 Nominating Agencies should be guided by eligibility criteria listed under Section 1.0 and the priority fields of study under Section 3.0.

5.5 The Nominating Agency is kindly requested to email scanned copy of the National Endorsement Form and send via email to info@scholarships.gov.gh latest by 30Th August, 2026 and then dispatch/courier the complete paper applications to the Director-General, Ghana Scholarships Authority, Accra, through The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, P. O. Box M53, Accra.

5.6 Nominating Agencies should take necessary measures to ensure that National Endorsement Form is received at the Ghana Scholarships Authority by the set deadlines.
